Description Hawaii has passed a bill that requires the Department of Transportation and the Counties to establish a policy to reasonably accommodate all users of the road, including pedestrians, cyclists, and people of all ages and abilities. Mobility is an issue for at least one-third of Hawaii's population who either choose not to drive (pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users) or cannot drive (children, seniors and the disabled).
Goal / Mission The goal of this legislation is to build a safe and connected transportation systems to serve pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, elderly and disabled residents. This legislation aims to reduce pedestrian and cyclist fatalities.
Results / Accomplishments The passage of this legislation is considered an accomplishment.
