What is this Indicator?
This indicator shows the age-adjusted incidence rate for breast cancer in cases per 100,000 females.
Why this is important:
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the U.S. other than skin cancer. Breast cancer forms in tissues of the breast, usually the ducts (tubes that carry milk to the nipple) and lobules (glands that make milk). In the United States in 2009, it is estimated that there will be 192,370 new cases and 40,170 deaths from breast cancer.
Technical Note:  The distribution is based on data from 67 Florida counties.
