What is this Indicator?
This indicator shows the number of bicyclists (or other cyclists) killed in traffic collisions per 100,000 population.
Why this is important:
According to the CDC, each year more than 500,000 people in the US are treated in emergency departments, and more than 700 people die as a result of bicycle-related injuries. Children are at particularly high risk for bicycle-related injuries. In 2001, children 15 years and younger accounted for 59% of all bicycle-related injuries seen in US emergency departments.
Technical Note:  The distribution is based on data from 67 Florida counties.
