What is this Indicator?
This indicator shows the rate per 100,000 population of arrests for drugs.
Why this is important:
Drug abuse and its related problems are among society's most pervasive health and social concerns. Addicted persons frequently engage in self-destructive and criminal behavior, which can result in injury or death. In addition, recreational drug-use can lead to unintentional overdose and death. Drug abuse violations are defined as State or local offenses relating to the unlawful possession, sale, use, growing, manufacturing, and making of narcotic drugs including opium or cocaine and their derivatives, marijuana, synthetic narcotics, and dangerous nonnarcotic drugs such as barbiturates.
Technical Note:  The distribution is based on all 67 Florida counties.
