What is this Indicator?
This indicator shows the percentage of babies born to mothers over age 18 with less than a high school education.
Why this is important:
Parents' educational attainment has a profound impact on the condition of families. There is a strong relationship between parents' educational attainment and poverty, literacy, and educational attainment rates for children. Education is directly related to higher earnings and greater job security. In addition, higher educational attainment is associated with better neighborhoods and schools, lower divorce rates and better overall health.
Technical Note:  The distribution is based on data from 67 Florida counties.
