What is this Indicator?
This indicator shows the percentage of students who are absent for 21 or more days within the school year.
Why this is important:
Attendance is an important factor in school success among youth. Studies show that better attendance is related to higher academic achievement for students of all backgrounds, but particularly for children with lower socio-economic status. Frequent absences can be a predictor of undesirable outcomes in adolescence, including academic failure, school drop out, substance abuse, gang involvement and criminal activity.
Technical Note:  The distribution is based on data from 67 Florida school districts.
